A thermally broken frame separates the outer and inner aluminium sections with a low-conductivity polyamide barrier. The metal path is interrupted. The result:

Where aluminium beats UPVC

Choose thermally broken aluminium where you need:

  • Large spans — aluminium's strength carries sizes UPVC cannot
  • Slim sightlines — more glass, less frame
  • Structural glazing or frameless appearance
  • Heavy-duty cycling — commercial entrances and high-traffic doors
  • Complex or bespoke geometry

For standard residential windows where span is moderate and thermal performance is the priority, UPVC usually delivers more for the money. We install both and will tell you honestly which suits the opening.

Glass matters as much as frame

A thermally broken frame with poorly specified glass is a wasted upgrade. Specification should address solar heat gain coefficient, visible light transmittance, U-value and, where relevant, acoustic rating. We specify frame and glass together.
