Well we’re movin’ on up to the east side. To a deluxe apartment in the sky. The weather started getting rough – the tiny ship was tossed. Got a dream and we just know now we’re gonna make our dream come true. I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you. I’ve always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.
The majlis is the most scrutinised room in a Qatari property. It is where guests are received, and every element is judged: the proportions of the space, the marble, the ceiling detail and lighting, and the seating that runs the perimeter.
None of it can be bought off a shelf. Majlis seating is dimensioned to the room, upholstered to coordinate with the marble and joinery, and installed once the finishes are complete. Because Brouj Doha delivers marble, gypsum, joinery and furniture in-house, the specification held together from structure through to the final cushion.
Al Shahaniya, west of Doha, is known for large private estates. Brouj Doha delivered three projects there for the same client: this majlis, a farm development and an equestrian stable.
Project Challenge
- Seating dimensioned to the room rather than to a product
- Coordinating upholstery with marble, timber and lighting
- Multi-level gypsum ceilings with cove lighting
- Acoustics in a large, hard-surfaced volume
- Cooling a space occupied intensively but intermittently
- Service access that avoids crossing the seated area
What We Did
Brouj Doha delivered civil and structural works, marble and finishing works, gypsum and painting works, bespoke joinery and furniture and interior fit-out on this project, under a single contract with one site team accountable for the whole scope. Works were carried out to Qatar Construction Specifications, with engineering and QA/QC sign-off at each milestone before the following stage began.
