Equestrian buildings have requirements that do not appear in any other building type. Ventilation has to manage heat, humidity and air quality without draughts. Drainage must handle daily washdown. Surfaces have to be durable, non-slip and safe for animals. Stable dimensions, door heights and ironmongery all follow equestrian rather than architectural convention.

In Qatar's climate, thermal management is the central problem: stables need to remain habitable through the summer, which drives the ventilation strategy, the roof construction and the shading.

Horse breeding and racing occupy a significant place in Qatari life, and Al Shahaniya is its centre.

What We Did

Brouj Doha delivered civil and structural works, HVAC installation, electrical and plumbing installation and outdoor shades and umbrellas on this project, under a single contract with one site team accountable for the whole scope. Works were carried out to Qatar Construction Specifications, with engineering and QA/QC sign-off at each milestone before the following stage began.
