Solar gain is the primary design constraint. Glass area, orientation and coating selection determine cooling load for the life of the building. The right specification pays for itself continuously; the wrong one is a permanent operating cost.
Thermal bridging. A high-performance glazed unit installed in a non-thermally-broken frame loses much of its benefit at the frame. Thermal break is not an upgrade in Qatar — it is the baseline.
Thermal movement. Aluminium moves substantially across a 25°C summer-to-winter swing plus daily cycling. Joints, gaskets and fixings must accommodate it, or panels distort and sealants fail.
Water and dust. Driving rain is infrequent but intense, and dust ingress is constant. Drainage and pressure equalisation have to be detailed properly, not assumed.
Fire performance. Core selection for composite panels is a life-safety decision. We specify to the required standard and document it.
