Lighting reveals everything. Cove lighting and wall washers expose any imperfection in a skim coat. Where the lighting design grazes a surface, the substrate has to be finished to a higher standard than normal — we plan that before boarding, not after the lights go on.

Access panels have to be designed in. Ceilings that conceal valves, dampers and junction boxes without planned access mean cutting holes later. We coordinate panel positions with the MEP layout.

Preparation outlasts the paint. In Qatar's heat and humidity, coatings applied over inadequately prepared or insufficiently cured substrates fail early. Preparation is the majority of the labour on any painting package worth buying.

Movement joints. Long runs of gypsum without correctly positioned joints crack. They always crack in the same places, and they are always avoidable.
